Coorie'd Up

Coorie'd up is a great old Scottish phrase for being cuddled up, warm and cosy and Red certainly embodies it.

Sunbathing

2012 pic

We had not long moved in, hence the rather empty room and Magic decided to take her ease in a lovely little sun puddle. She is lying beside the only item I bought in advance of our move - a door mat for the garden doors with three cheerful kitties.

Tall Boy

I keep forgetting how tall Red is when he stands up. This is him leaning on the bedside cabinet which is actually a three drawer chest. Sorry its a fuzzy 'action' shot.

His other trick when I am standing up and he is interested by something I've said 'no' to him about is to stand up and prop his paws on my hip and try to swipe the thing out of my hand which freaks me out as I forget how far up he can reach.

Freesat or Freecat

2012 pics:

Bizarrely this house is in a natural dip and does not get any aerial reception despite being in a busy urban location. This is pretty infuriating as all of my tv's have integral freeview which is now worthless and I spent the first four days here singing to myself or watching the one dvd that was in the bedroom tv for some noise! Now I know why the sellers seemed to keep going on about SKY tv set ups!

I enjoy tv and generally tend to have it on in the background so I like to have access to tv where I am rather than being limited to viewing tv in one single room. Surprisingly to me, SKY term this as 'multiroom' and hike up the price hysterically. I am not a fan of paid tv at the best of times. If a show is good enough it will usually find its way  to free tv and despite my tv everywhere rule I am more of a tv 'grazer' rather than dedicated watcher.

So, after much conflicting advice, including a quote for nearly £900 from Currys to fit FREEsat, I wondered what I was going to do. A conversation with the seller revealed  I actually had an 8 channel satellite dish and a freesat point in the small bedroom which worked with a £30 freesat box. This meant I could stop singing but could only watch tv in the bedroom. A couple of weeks later I realised (ok, I'm a bit slow in the uptake) that I could use one of the two SKY leads for a freesat box in the living room. Unfortunately, at the time that room looked like one of those hoarder programmes and I only had the use of a single sofa once I'd hiked over a mountain trail of boxes leading to it but still I could watch tv in another room.

Eventually, a satellite engineer was sourced and the rest of the house was drilled and 'wired for viewing' and the tvs could be reinstated. The freesat boxes were going to be bought slowly as finances allowed but a decent balance on a nectar card brought things forward.

So, why is this cat related? Well, Magic decided, as cats do, to check out the new item to her exacting standards....

Hairy Paws 4

2012 pics:

A futher example of the boy with the angora shovels. This time with my thumb alongside. The lovely manicure colour was courtesy of my lovely friend Ava who'd arranged this for my birthday. I loved the colour and was quite amazed that it stayed intact for 8 days despite unpacking and general housework during the house move.

I've no idea why his fluffy feet are so big but they are super soft AND he doesnt mind me playing with them. Win for both of us - I get to stroke these big paws and he gets a foot massage!

Specsavers Vet

As I am now rapidly becoming a 'woman of my age' and they are definitely printing things smaller, especially micowave instructions, the new Specsavers Advert really tickled my funny bone.

Although, I'm just begining to need reading glasses at night if my eyes are tired I am already wondering if I might need to swap Red and Magic for a big cat like a lion or tiger just so that I can see it easier...? The downside would be the strain on my auld bones dragging a wildebeast home for their tea!

Puss on a ledge

Normally Magic ignores Red but these are the pics from September 2012 when Magic was taunting and confusing Red, just because she could!

This was from the time when Magic was coming out to the garden but Red was still too terrified to even be in the same room as an open external door. The rest of the tale is in another blog entry Taking time

Anyway, I was trying to get Magic back in the house but she wasn't for coming so I went in to get the treats to tempt her and when I came back out she'd hopped from the patio chair to the table then the window ledge where she had a ball jigging about and taunting poor Red who couldn't quite fathom things out the whole inside outside conundrum. He's got his very best Fr Dougal confused face on.

There were two in the bed and the little one said...

Not sure if either will give up their ground to roll over...and I have no idea how they got that close without one (Red) sustaining a slapping...? Note how Magic is all curled up pretending Red isn't there with that irrefutable cat logic of 'if I cant see you then you are not there'!

This is the more common sleeping position with my poor leg forming the barrier which allows them to pretend the other doesn't exist.

Lying in wait

Ah, the planning that goes into any action. Red watching Magic and timing his leap to land on, or within a whisker of her, to cause maximal hissy shrieks but minimise the risk of her or me catching him in the act. No wonder we used to call him the SAS cat.

Soft Focus Red

Sorry for the lack of posts. Things have been somewhat fraught with illness and other 'challenges' as we now are supposed to call outright problems or disasters. So here is a nice shot of the boy chilling out. I hope everyone is well and hope to get round to everyone's blogs to catch up on the all the news from our fur friends and their devoted humans.

Paracord Toy

Red adores his paracord knot. His entire attention is taken up with it so much so that he doesn't even spot how close to Magic he is. He is full of activity, hence the blurring, and she is totally distainful because he is playing with it. Magic is not above playing with it and has great times playing with it but never, never while Red is in range.
