Away and lie on your side
My grandmother used to have a variety of old saying's one of which was "Ach, away and lie on your side" when she wished to express disbelief, disagreed with someone or wanted to express her distain. Red seems to love lying on his side and, if Nana were around this would be no hardship or insult to him!
That's a great expression and not one I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteNicki & Derry prefer Red's interpretation!
What a funny saying. We think Red has got it down though.

ReplyDeleteRed is doing it right!
ReplyDeleteRed looks all comfy and ready for Sunday!
ReplyDeleteHe'd be hard to insult as he loves lying on his side!
ReplyDeleteAs to the origin of the saying I am not sure if it is a real old Scottish/Glaswegian insult or just one that Nana had come up with herself. However, these pics just reminded me of her saying it when I saw them.
We've never heard this saying before, but we are worried about the last picture, we hope that Red didn't fall off of the sofa and if he did, that there were plenty of safety cushions for him to land on hehe!
