Hands across the ocean

A little opportunistic snap from last night as I was catching up on all the lovely blogs. I was all snuggled up in a fleecy blanket and Red was lying cuddled up beside me on the sofa having the occasional belly rub. As I was reading Glogirly's Blog he started reaching out to Waffles onscreen and I even got a snap of him doing it. Not the greatest shot ever but funny all the same!

Cheeky Squirrel

The little squirrel is back. He's the cheeky little blighter who has been trying to get in my neighbour's house for the past few weeks. He sits on top of her handrail peering in and waiting till the door is opened. Each day he thinks his luck might be in. Here he is with his other great entertainment of annoying Magic who sits on guard.

The Worm Turned

Red lolling about on the rug in the sitting area in the dining room. I found this rug in Manchester on one of my forays and love it for the perfect teal colour. I'm less sure about the odd worm on it that looks like a naked shell-less Brian the Snail from the Magic Roundabout. It is looks very sad at one end now as Red has been using it as a scratch mat and I'm surprised it is not threadbare.

However, what Red is up to is beyond me thought the last one looks the most incriminating.

Floofy washing

What do you tell the cat when he has jumped on the clothes airer and is liberally shedding belly fluff over your lovely clean laundry but he jumps off when you tell him to.

Do you say "bad boy" even though he did what you asked or, "good boy" which might encourage him back on to the clothes airer as he shouldn't have been up there in the first place?

My response was "Good boy! No, actually you aren't. You're a bad boy!... Aww hell, why am I bothering, you don't listen to a word I say about my washing anyway...!

Reaction to Monday

Seriously....? It's Monday ALREADY....!
I am not up for this at all, I think I need a lie down till Friday rolls back around...

Chilled out Sunday

My sweet girl settling down beside me for a chilled out Sunday afternoon. Time to break out the crochet methinks, or even to join her in a little snoozle......

Happiness

Just looking at this picture I was struck by all the happy things in it.
  • My fluffy boy-cat, always drapes himself over whatever it is that interests me
  • A box of shiny, sparkly seed beads so full of possibility (and a cat head!)
  • My dining table so generously gifted by my friend Eva and delivered and put together by her husband while we nattered and made breakfast last year
  • A very tall glass of Cherry Pepsi Max, my guilty pleasure
  • My box of Swarovski crystals (behind Red's hip) which just mesmerise me
  • One of my favourite tall 'Glencoe' style coffee mugs from Dunoon Potteries and an IKEA tumbler
  • Pretty patterned scissors - anyone who knows me knows about my 'pretty scissor fetish'
  • Mondriaan style hankie box in the background which is a pattern I love and have an online tutorial for making a canvas or a rag rug which may get made someday
  • Sunlight diffusing through the beautiful dragonfly voiles - I didn't realise I had bought these many years before for the other house but never used them. When I moved I found these and Odette and I measured them, Anita managed to unpick the seams and re-sew to fit absolutely perfectly and Odette and I argued confusedly for ages when hanging them as we couldn't work out which way up they were to go. Just for accuracy she was right they are dragonflies and not skinny wonky butterflies as I thought.
  • Time - this cant be seen here but, as I have my beads out, a very relaxed cat rolling about waiting to be petted, coffee and pepsi to hand then it is an odds on bet I had a little time to be creative and reflective and at peace
Sometimes pictures capture so much more of your life than what you think you are recording.

This is a cross post with my other blog http://gonebeading.blogspot.co.uk/ as this picture just seems to bring both together and I couldn't decide which one it belonged on.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Roll on the weekend

Magic just getting some zzzz's in preparation for a chilled out weekend on her current favourite beanbag.
Warm spot chosen on top of the sofa - check! Nice soft squidgy beanbag to rest the old bones - check! Nose, paws and tail all tucked in cosily - check! One ear left out as an early warning in case the Red devil creeps up to annoy me and to check the room temp - check! All good for a full snore sleep ahead......!

Modelled by Red

This snap was for his adoring 'auntie'. Normally Red doesn't pose when you want him to but in honour of her birthday he decided to allow me to wrap her snuggly cosy hand-knitted scarf around him for a happy birthday snap. It only lasted a few seconds but that was just enough.
His 'help' was less successful when he decided to plonk himself on it while I was still trying to knit it....!
But once it was made, he modelled it beautifully.

Square puss on a sofa

Why is he this shape...I've no idea...Is he comfortable...presumably...?

More Sleepy Puss

Nope, I've absolutely no idea whether some of these pics are the right way up either! No wonder he often looks bewildered when he surfaces from a sleep.

Magic in the spotlight

A sweet opportunistic snap of Magic sitting in a sun puddle in the hallway.
She isn't sitting in her usual elegant manner but she was engaged in a bit of fur maintenance so this is forgivable...especially as I was in the all-together too as I was just post-shower. The sun puddle is through a frosted glass panel so the neighbours were screened from our ablution related activities!

The stupid things owners say

Red has just had a telling off. He's bored and trying to squish the roof of the little Magic Roundabout House, where Magic is sleeping quite cosily, and sneaking round to bop her through the door. He's done this a few times and been warned off which worked but he's getting more persistent. Time then for the firm, no nonsense 'mummy voice'. The tone was spot on, and got his attention, but what I said made me laugh and ruin the moment.

"Red! Red! Enough! Stop that. Leave Magic alone. Go away, go and annoy someone else....!" Ermmm, hang on, that means I've just told him off for annoying Magic and told him to pick on me instead. Thankfully, he's not that quick on the uptake and just gave me a pitying look and ambled off.

Furry Boy

Red just cant help doing cute....! Have a lovely Sunday everyone.

Saturday 2 November 2013

...and a riot ensued..

Magic has claimed the little house and Red the radiator bed as the weather gets colder. This works fine till the ginger dough-head decides to annoy Magic. He'd really like a pal to play with but settles for being run out of town and being hissed at.

The roof is pushed in as this is his latest trick of standing on it to squish Magic to rouse her. Usually though he sidles round the edge of the house and pokes Magic through the door before leaping back strategically to avoid the angry inhabitant. Today he decided the roof trick wasn't working so an all out slap-fest would be the best way to show his love to Magic.....!
 The Boy is plotting
The roof squash and awakening of the beast
 Look for the hooligan
 It wasn't me, honest Guv...
 You still in there...?
 Olympic slaps
Keek-a-boo
I'm warning you.....
Come 'ere you little rat-ball....till I rattle your ears...!

Ps. The human knows the little house needs a good de-fluffing but Magic will be back once Red has been 'dealt with'...!
PPs. Don't worry no-one ever gets hurt; it is all posturing, claw-less slapping and vocal acrobatics then a 50mtr sprint and a couple of high jumps

Diamond Girl well named

I've always known my girl was a magical little gem who brings light and comfort when it is needed but I cannot believe I've lived with this beloved little cat for eleven lovely years and never noticed this hidden gem.

I was sitting one night fretting about some of the things that have been happening and sad, difficult decisions to be made. Magic was cuddled up against my leg and, when I looked down, I suddenly noticed this.....
She has a DIAMOND shape in her ear.....!

When we got her she had been named by the SSPCA cat rescue staff as she had been handed in at Christmas. Her name came from the Marks and Spencer's first 'Magic and Sparkle' advertising campaign. The name seemed to suit her and she answered to it so we kept it, and she has indeed been a magical, sparkly girl ever since.

How odd on that night when I was worried that she revealed her inner gem. Even more oddly, this year Marks and Sparks are planning to re-run the 'Magic and Sparkle' strapline....Spooky eh...?

Ps Cathy Keisha kindly pointed out that those of you who have been leaving lovely comments have been having to jump through the irritating captcha hurdle. I'm really sorry, I didn't know it was a default setting and hopefully it is all gone now.
